The Perfect Nighttime Routines for Men’s Skincare

Okay, nighttime routines for men’s skincare literally saved my face from looking like a dried-up avocado, and I’m not even exaggerating. I’m sitting here in my stupidly humid Brooklyn apartment right now, November 11, 2025, 11:42 PM EST (yeah I’m behind you India bros), LED strips flickering because the smart bulb is drunk again, and my skin finally feels… soft? Like, baby-butt soft. Wild.

Why I Even Started Giving a Shit About Nighttime Routines for Men’s Skincare

Real talk—I used to just splash water on my face and call it a day. Then last Christmas my sister straight-up roasted me in front of the whole family: “You look like you moisturize with regret.” Brutal. Accurate. So January 1st I was drunk on cheap prosecco and decided 2025 was the year I stopped looking like a sad leather wallet.

My Current (Slightly Unhinged) Nighttime Routine for Men’s Skincare

This is what I actually do, no influencer BS:

  1. Oil cleanse while doomscrolling TikTok – Currently obsessed with the Banila Co Clean It Zero. I massage that pink balm in circles while watching gym bros scream about discipline. Takes 60 seconds, melts the city grime off.
  2. Second cleanse because I’m paranoidCeraVe Hydrating Cleanser. Cheap, doesn’t strip, smells like nothing. Perfect.
  3. The Ordinary’s Niacinamide – I call it my “shut the hell up” serum because it calms redness when I’ve been picking at my face like an idiot (which is often).
  4. Retinol three nights a week – Started with Differin gel because the dermatologist scared me straight. My skin peeled like a snake for two weeks and I cried in the shower. Worth it now.
  5. Moisturizer slathered like I’m frosting a cakeWeleda Skin Food or just straight Aquaphor when I’m lazy. My girlfriend says I smell like a sexy hospital but whatever.
  6. Lip balm or we riot – Lanolips 101 Ointment in strawberry. Yes it’s pink. Fight me.

The Mistakes I Made So You Don’t Have To (Nighttime Routines for Men’s Skincare Edition)

  • Used The Ordinary 100% Niacinamide powder mixed wrong and turned orange like a traffic cone
  • Fell asleep in sheet mask and woke up looking like a horror movie
  • Tried double cleansing with dish soap when I ran out of balm (do NOT)

The One Product That Changed Everything

Okay I’m gonna sound like a shill but Kosas Revealer Concealer isn’t even for night but I use the leftover on my fingers as eye cream because it has caffeine and peptides and I’m too cheap to buy actual eye cream. Sue me.

Final Thoughts, I’m Tired

Look, your nighttime routine for men’s skincare doesn’t have to be 12 steps and $500 Korean imports. Mine cost maybe $80 total and half of it is from Target. Just… do something. Your 40-year-old self is literally begging you right now.

Anyway I’m gonna go wash my face before I talk myself out of it again. If you’re a guy still sleeping in makeup (your face grease counts), try literally any of this. Worst case you waste 8 minutes and smell nice.

Drop your own chaotic nighttime routines for men’s skincare below—I need to know I’m not the only disaster doing this at 34.
